The first of a series of body of work that seeks to pose questions about environmental efforts to “save the earth”, “Ribes sanguineum Through a Cup” is not a statement. But instead an uneasy thought expressed in imagery. Are our current conservation efforts futile? At the rate we’re going, can we affect change for the better? And at the same time, why is change so difficult to implement? Are just a few of the thoughts rattling around in my brain. To paraphrase a sentiment I’ve heard before but not often enough, the earth does not need saving, what we are really meaning to do, is to preserve our way of life as we know it.
